What a shoe laundry actually is (and why Kolkata needs one)
A shoe laundry is exactly what it sounds like: a laundry, for shoes. You book a pickup, we collect the pair from your door, they're cleaned by hand at our facility over the next three to five days, and they come back to you photographed, deodorised, conditioned and looking the way they did when they were still worth showing off.
The reason this exists as a separate service and the reason a normal laundry can't do it is that shoes are not fabric. A ₹2,000 shirt can survive a machine wash. A ₹12,000 pair of sneakers cannot. Shoes are a composite object: leather or knit uppers glued to foam midsoles glued to rubber outsoles, with a fabric lining and a foam insole inside. Every one of those materials fails differently, and the single fastest way to destroy a pair is to treat all of them the same which is what happens the moment a shoe goes into a washing machine.
Kolkata makes the problem sharper. Between April humidity, monsoon flooding, road dust from every construction site in the city and the fact that shoes rarely get more than eight hours of drying time between wears, the average pair here ages roughly twice as fast as the same pair in a drier city. A shoe laundry closes that gap. That's the entire pitch.

There's an odd gap in how people treat their wardrobe. A ₹2,000 shirt goes to the dry cleaner every few wears. A ₹12,000 pair of sneakers gets wiped with a wet cloth once a year and then thrown away when it looks tired.
The shoes didn't wear out. They just got dirty in a way a wet cloth can't fix, and a shoe that looks finished is usually a shoe that's about eighty minutes of proper work away from looking new.
That work is not complicated, but it is specific. A pair of white leather sneakers, a suede chukka and a mesh runner are three completely different materials with three completely different failure modes, and the single most common way footwear gets destroyed is someone treating all three the same, usually by putting them in a washing machine, which is the fastest way to delaminate a midsole and warp a heel counter permanently.

Why shoes have a harder time here
Three things kill shoes in this city, and none of them are what most people think.
Humidity. Kolkata sits above 70% relative humidity for most of the year. Shoes don't dry fully between wears. The sweat that soaks into the lining and insole becomes a bacterial culture, and that bacteria not the sweat itself is what makes shoes smell. Sprays don't touch it. A deodoriser applied to the outside is treating the smoke, not the fire.
Monsoon. Once floodwater has been inside a shoe, the leather will harden and crack unless it's dried at ambient temperature with the shape held. Most people put wet shoes in the sun or in front of a fan on high. Both of those permanently damage the material. Road water in Kolkata also carries fine silica dust from construction that settles into the seams and sole treads and stays there until it's mechanically brushed out.
Everyday grit. Kolkata's roads deposit a specific mix of fine dust, diesel particulate and organic matter that behaves like a mild abrasive against the upper. Left on the shoe, it slowly grinds down the finish. A quick wipe with a wet cloth only redistributes it.
A proper shoe laundry solves all three at once. The alternative doing it yourself with what's in the house usually solves one and creates two more.

Shoe cleaning FAQs
How much does shoe cleaning cost in Kolkata?
₹420 for sneakers, sports shoes and loafers. ₹480 for boots. ₹720 for luxury and designer footwear. Doorstep pickup, cleaning, deodorising, conditioning and delivery are all included.
How long does shoe cleaning take?
3–5 days. Most of that is controlled drying and shoes have to dry slowly at ambient temperature to keep their shape and avoid cracking the leather. It cannot be safely rushed.
Can you clean white sneakers and remove the yellowing?
Yes, and they're two separate jobs. The upper is cleaned by material type; the yellowed midsole is oxidised rubber and needs a controlled de-yellowing treatment, not scrubbing. Most white midsoles respond well. We'll tell you at inspection whether yours is a good candidate.
Can you clean suede shoes?
Yes. Suede is handled dry first, eraser, brass brush, nap lifting and because water on suede leaves a permanent tide line. Wet methods only where the material demands it, always with protectant afterwards.
Can I just put my shoes in the washing machine?
Please don't. Machine agitation delaminates the midsole from the upper, warps the heel counter, and destroys knit and mesh. It's the most common way shoes are ruined and it isn't reversible.

Is the cleaning process safe for my shoes?
Yes. Everything is by hand, matched to the material, dried at ambient temperature. The risks in shoe cleaning come from machines and heat, and we use neither. We photograph every pair before and after.
Can you remove shoe odour?
Yes. Odour is bacteria living in the sweat absorbed by the lining and insole, so the treatment is antimicrobial, applied to the interior, not a spray on top. That's why it lasts.
Do you clean luxury shoes?
Yes, ₹720. Individually assessed, hand finished, photographed at every stage.
Will you fix scuffs, creases and sole damage?
Scuffs, usually. Creases, no that's a permanent fold in the material, not dirt, and anyone claiming to remove creasing is claiming something that isn't possible. Sole separation is a repair rather than a clean
